Frequently asked questions

Answers to the most common questions about working, hiring, and training in the Peace Region.

Getting started

What areas does PeaceOilJobs.ca cover?

We serve Grande Prairie, Peace River, Fort St. John, Dawson Creek, Fort Nelson, High Level, and surrounding communities across Northwest Alberta and Northeast British Columbia.

How often are jobs updated?

Collection and publication are separate steps. A collection run does not mean every job was reviewed or published. Always confirm availability and application instructions on the employer source; the date added to our board is not necessarily the employer’s original posting date.

Is the service free for job seekers?

Yes. The public job, employer, and training directories can be browsed without charge. Job alerts and public self-serve employer plans are not currently active.

What types of jobs are listed?

We focus on oil and gas industry positions including drilling (floorhands, derrickhands, drillers), production operators, heavy equipment operators, Class 1 drivers, welders, pipefitters, electricians, mechanics, and safety personnel.

For job seekers

How do I apply for roles I see?

Select any listing and choose Apply on source site (or Apply for this job on listings posted directly to PeaceOilJobs). You'll be directed to the employer's application portal or given direct contact instructions.

Do I need safety certifications in advance?

Requirements vary by role, employer, site, and jurisdiction. Use the Safety Tickets guide as a starting point, then confirm the accepted course and current validity with the employer.

Can I set up job alerts?

Not currently. Automated public job alerts are not active; browse or bookmark filtered catalogue URLs instead.

What rotations are common in the Peace Region?

Common rotations include 14 days on / 7 days off (14/7), 21 days on / 7 days off (21/7), and 10 days on / 4 days off (10/4). Some positions offer day shifts or flexible schedules.

What does "LOA" or "Per Diem" mean?

Living Out Allowance (LOA) or per diem generally refers to an employer payment intended to help cover eligible travel, accommodation, or meal costs. Amounts and tax treatment vary; confirm the written terms with the employer.

How do I stand out to employers?

Keep your certifications current and listed prominently on your resume. Highlight specific equipment experience, safety record, and willingness to travel. Visit our Resume Kit for detailed tips.

For employers

How do employers post jobs?

Use the Hiring Intake form to share the role. The request is reviewed manually; publication, timing, application path, and any fees are confirmed before anything goes live.

Do you support training partnerships?

The public training directory lists regional providers for discovery. PeaceOilJobs.ca does not currently verify providers, coordinate group bookings, or claim accreditation partnerships.

Can I verify candidate certifications?

No public credential-verification service is currently active. Employers remain responsible for confirming originals, validity, issuing bodies, and expiry dates before hiring.

What makes Peace Oil Jobs different?

We focus the public catalogue on Peace Region jobs, employers, training providers, and practical regional resources. Employers must independently screen applicants and verify qualifications.
